Catherine (“Katie”) Ness, MA, LCPC, is the Clinical Director of the Inverness office. She specializes in mental illness, severe anxiety, and eating disorders. Her specialty in trauma, including PTSD, gives her clients hope and relief. Her sensitive and intuitive therapy style enables her to connect deeply with her clients. She provides individual and group psychotherapy to people with self-esteem and identity challenges.
Catherine has dedicated herself to her clients and helping them better define where they are in life and where they would like to go in the future. Recognizing that each person is an individual and has personal strengths and struggles is an integral part of her therapeutic technique. She believes that, by focusing on known and perhaps "undiscovered" strengths, everyone has the ability to improve personal happiness and over-come life obstacles.
Catherine's intuitive and sensitive approach to counseling enables her to "reach into" her client's world, understand the problem for which they're seeking help, and create a partnership with them to solve their problems. Her sensitive and intuitive therapy style enables her to connect deeply with her female clients. She is adept with life role changes, body image and self-esteem issues, inequality in relationships, codependency and assertiveness challenges.
Catherine began her career working with adult survivors of childhood assault and incest. These individuals not only had to work through past traumas, but deal with the depression, anxiety and self-doubt that accompanied these early memories. Motivated by the strength and courage that she saw in these men and women, Catherine developed a therapeutic technique that allowed her clients to discover "unrecognized strengths" and build the self-esteem needed to be confident in life.
Catherine has also had great success and extensive experience working with persons who have struggled with anxiety, depression, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and mental illness. Despite the particular difficulty one is experiencing, she believes that everyone has the right and ability to find happiness in life. She is dedicated and very motivated to make this happen for her clients.
"I truly believe my personal growth started when I began working with Katie at Clinical Care. Using professional knowledge, dignity, and grace, she helped me start a positive journey to health, strength and confidence. She suggested practical strategies to help empower me to take control of my life and put anxiety aside. I am grateful for her guidance."
